With just 4 employees, DCCL was one of the smallest companies to be awarded the most prestigious corporate accolade in the UK. The award recognises the important part DCCL curtains are now playing in minimising infection such as MRSA in hospitals, GP surgeries and health centres across the country.
Now is a very poignant time as many hospitals are failing to keep wards clean and are putting patients at risk of hospital borne infections. DCCLs cubicle curtains are helping to combat this and are currently being used in Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, who like other hospital’s who have a proven reduction in MRSA and infection since fitting disposable curtains.
The curtain has a patented stalk that fits directly to existing hospital tracks, it is also treated with a residual biocide that kills bacteria on contact, minimising infection. All these elements were recognised by the Queen’s Office and acknowledged as one of only around 40 other companies in the country to be awarded the Queen’s Award for Innovation.
Peter Gardner, chairman for Disposable Cubicle Curtains Ltd said:
“We are honoured that we have been awarded such a prestigious accolade and for our product to be recognised in this way.”
“Infection control is such a high priority in all healthcare environments and we are proud to be playing such an important part in the fight against it.”
